Canelo Vs. Golovkin III To Fight For WBC Zapoteca Belt

By Sean Jones: Four-time 168-pound champion Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin will be thrilled to fight for the WBC’s newly created ‘Zapoteca belt’, also called the ‘Jaguar Warrior belt’ on September 17th.

Artisans have created the beautiful Zapotec belt, which will be available to Canelo (57-2-2, 39 KOs) and Golovkin (42-1-1, 37 KOs) in their upcoming DAZN pay-per-view trilogy on September 17. . at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Canelo will have all four of his titles at stake, and it is very important that he not lose this fight because it would be his second loss in a row. He was shamed by Dmitry Bivol last May, who showed how limited the Mexican star is as a fighter.

Canelo had gotten away with increasing his record over the last four years, beating fighters from Europe with marginal talent.

Against the weak group that Canelo has beaten one after another since 2018, he hid his glaring flaws in his game, which were previously partially exposed by Golovkin, Erislandy Lara, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout.

More important than the special Jaguar Warriors belt created by the WBC, Canelo and Golovkin will fight to keep their careers afloat. It is not just the 40-year-old Golovkin who will fight tooth and nail to remain relevant.

Canelo will too because he looked his worst ever against Bivol, and the ridiculous scores handed out by the three judges who worked the fight were a joke.

The three judges who worked the Canelo-Bivol fight had identical scores of 115-113, which was a far cry from the fight that had taken place. Arguably the scores should have been 119-109 x 3 as Canelo seemed to win only a round or two at best.

Canelo says he wants to end Golovkin’s career by knocking him out on September 17, but that’s pretty far fetched. Canelo lacks the gas tank to continuously attack Golovkin required to knock him out.

It will be a huge mistake on Canelo’s part if he empties his gas tank trying to stop Golovkin because GGG will take him after and make the most of him.

Canelo is a good fighter, but his Achilles heel is his poor cardio, which has hampered his entire career. It’s not going to get any better right now, as Canelo is 32 years old and coming off the worst performance of his career against Bivol.
