However, the Three Lions were far from their best in the England vs. USA match, and the two teams shared points late in the match. The England vs USA match ended in a goalless draw as the Three Lions put in a rather disappointing performance.
Southgate had opted for the same starting XI that started against Iran, and that meant Phil Foden started the game on the bench. The England coach had signed him as a substitute against Iran. But Southgate opted to keep Phil Foden as an unused substitute in the match against the United States.

Gary Neville criticized Southgate’s decision to leave Phil Foden in the dugout. “I know he’s not playing but Phil Foden not starting for England is a real shame,” Gary Neville told ITV Sport. [via Metro].
Gary Neville also described Phil Foden as the best player in England and believes he should start for the Three Lions.
“He is a great talent. I think he is our best player and our best talent by a mile in this country. He really he should be starting in that team,” added Gary Neville after learning that Phil Foden was not in the starting XI for the England vs USA FIFA World Cup match.
As the England vs USA match progressed and the score was still goalless, Southgate made substitutions. He made three substitutions in the game against the USA, bringing on Marcus Rashford, Jordan Henderson and Jack Grealish in the second half.
Despite the disappointing draw against the United States, the Three Lions are top of Group B.
England have four points from two games and are one point clear of second placed Iran who have three points. The United States, meanwhile, has two points from two games.
